Support the Water Resources Specialist in overseeing the drafting of the rapid drought assessment and ensure timely delivery of all outputs.
Review existing FAO drought assessment for Central Highlands alongside other relevant national and international reports, policies, and technical guidance.
Analyze historical agricultural drought conditions in the Central Highlands, with a focus on high-value crops such as coffee and pepper.
Review existing drought management practices, policies, and provincial preparedness in the agricultural sector to identify gaps and challenges.
Integrate climate outlooks, El Niño assessments, and agricultural water demand analyses into a comprehensive drought assessment.
Synthesize multidisciplinary findings to evaluate the implications of the forecasted 2026 El Niño event on agriculture, rural water supply, and water resources management.
Review international experiences and good practices in drought preparedness and incorporate these into the Vietnamese context.
Provide technical inputs for consultation meetings and validation workshops with stakeholders.
Support the preparation and finalization of the assessment report.

Yêu cầu công việc

Advanced university degree (MSc or PhD) in Water Resources engineering, Environmental engineering, Water resources and Irrigation management, Hydraulic/Hydrologic Engineering or related field.
At least 15 years of relevant experience in water resources management, hydrology and drought management.
At least 10 years of experience working on the Central Highlands region.
Working knowledge of English and Vietnamese.
Must be a national of Viet Nam or a resident with a valid work permit.

Yêu cầu ưu tiên

Modelling experience in drought, water resources, or disaster risk assessment.
Previous experience working with FAO, UN agencies, development partners, or international organizations.
Experience acting as a team leader in similar assignments.
